GeoSpectre and Nearmap
Nearmap flies its own cameras and gives you sharp, regularly updated aerial imagery to view, measure and analyse. GeoSpectre starts from the job you describe: it finds the matches across an area, prices each one at your rates, plans the crew and waits for your yes.
Who each is for
Nearmap is for
Teams that need the picture itself to be the record. Nearmap serves insurers, architecture, engineering and construction firms, and government agencies with current aerial imagery, oblique and 3D views, measurement, and an archive that goes back to 2014.
GeoSpectre is for
Businesses that need to find the next job and get it moving. You describe what you are looking for, AI detects the matches in aerial and satellite imagery, and each one becomes a lead you can price at your own rates, crew and approve in the same workspace.
Where they differ
| Question | GeoSpectre | Nearmap |
|---|---|---|
| Where you start | A job you describe in your own words, across an area you choose | A location you open in MapBrowser or inside a connected tool |
| Where the imagery comes from | Open imagery included, with fresh imagery ordered from providers such as SkyFi and UP42 when you need it | Its own aerial capture, flown with the HyperCamera3 system |
| Image detail | Depends on the imagery available for that place and date | 4.4 to 7.5 cm per pixel |
| How often it updates | Watched sites are checked for new imagery several times a day; how often new pictures exist depends on the source | Up to three times a year in covered areas |
| Coverage | Search anywhere, subject to the imagery available for a place | Areas home to 88.5% of the US population, plus Canada, Australia and New Zealand |
| Looking back | Compare dated pictures of a place where earlier imagery exists | An archive that goes back to 2014 |
| Views and measurement | Matches outlined and numbered on the map; work measured by area, count or length to price it | Vertical, oblique, panoramic and 3D views, with length, width, radius and area measurement |
| What the AI does | Detects what you ask for, such as commercial roofs in an area, and returns every match | More than 130 property layers, such as roof condition and materials, from its own models |
| Context around a find | More than a hundred public data layers, such as flood zones, listings and grid connection queues, plus your own data | Property attributes drawn from its own imagery |
| After the find | Each match priced at your rates, a crew proposed from who is free, a weather window checked, then held for your approval | Export imagery and measurements, or use them in Esri, Autodesk, Bentley and other tools |
| Pricing | Pro is $49 a month for one person with a 7-day free trial. Business is $149 per person a month | Not published. Pricing comes from Nearmap sales |
Choose Nearmap if
- You need very sharp, current aerial imagery of a property as the record.
- You measure roofs, sites or assets directly from the picture.
- You need oblique, panoramic or 3D views.
- You work in Esri, Autodesk or Bentley tools and want the imagery inside them.
- You need to look back at a site across many years, as far as 2014.
Choose GeoSpectre if
- You want to find every property or site in an area that matches the work you do.
- You want each find worked out as a job at your own rates.
- You plan crews from the people and vehicles you have, with nothing booked until you approve.
- You want public data such as flood zones, listings and grid queues beside the imagery.
- You want to start on your own today for $49 a month.
The two can sit side by side. Nearmap gives a detailed picture of a property you already know about. GeoSpectre finds which properties are worth looking at and runs the work that follows.

Does GeoSpectre capture its own aerial imagery?
No. GeoSpectre works with open imagery and orders fresh imagery from providers such as SkyFi and UP42 when you need it. Nearmap flies its own camera systems, which is why its imagery is so detailed and consistent in the areas it covers.
Can GeoSpectre measure a roof as precisely as Nearmap?
If precise measurement from the image is the main job, Nearmap is the better fit. GeoSpectre measures each find by area, count or length so the work can be priced, and the precision depends on the imagery available for that place.
What happens after GeoSpectre finds a match?
Each match can be worked out as a job at your own rates: people, vehicles, days and cost. GeoSpectre proposes a crew from who is free, checks the weather window and places the job in an approvals inbox. Nothing moves until a person says yes.
How much does each cost?
GeoSpectre Pro is $49 a month for one person and starts with a 7-day free trial. Business is $149 per person a month for teams of 2 to 49, and Enterprise, for 50 people or more, is quoted by our sales team. Nearmap does not publish its prices; you request them from its sales team.
Can I bring my own data into GeoSpectre?
Yes. Upload a spreadsheet, link a Google Sheet, or connect Samsara, Motive, Deputy, Airtable or any REST API in the Data Hub. Pricing, crew plans and rules then run on your own numbers.
